Carrie Paterson is an artist and writer whose work crosses interdisciplinary boundaries between the arts and sciences, and between object making, performance, drawing, research, invention, and text. Since 2002 she has been investigating the cultural and scientific discourses surrounding the exploration of outer space, and most recently, collaborating with scientists to visualize alternate models of evolution and sensory perception.

Paterson's published writings include reviews, essays, interviews, and hypertext fiction. She was Guest Editor for Artillery magazine's art / science issue in May 2009. She frequently contributes essays and reviews to a variety of arts and culture publications including Flash Art International, X-TRA, Artweek, and Artillery.

Paterson teaches writing at Cal State Fullerton in the art department's graduate studies program and conducts an undergraduate course on the narrative structures of video games, comics, and graphic novels.

She lives in Los Angeles.
